One such item, a Dodge WC-57 Command Car, will be up for auction in Auburn, Indiana, on June 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Command Car, a line of military vehicles manufactured between 1942 and 1945 and the predecessor of the post-war Dodge Power Wagon, would have been a noteworthy item in its own right. This one, however, was personally used during World War II by Gen. George S. Patton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patton\u2019s 4&#215;4 Command Car, which was part of the 3rd Army headquarters\u2019 motorpool, was built in 1944 with a series of modifications to suit the general\u2019s preferences, according to the host company, <a href=\"https:\/\/worldwideauctioneers.com\/car-details\/?id=80&#038;rid=204\" target=_blank>Worldwide Auctioneers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A Browning .30 caliber machine gun mount, armor plating, sirens, horns, auxiliary tanks, and 3rd Army HQ pennants are among the various additions that made this particular vehicle uniquely capable of announcing the commanding presence of the famous general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A rail was installed behind the vehicle\u2019s front seats, meanwhile, for Patton to hold onto while standing and addressing soldiers on the front lines. The vehicle\u2019s recently refurbished engine, a 92-horsepower Dodge 6-cylinder, won\u2019t win any races but remains in perfectly drivable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat this vehicle represents is so impactful and so important,\u201d John Kruse, principal of Worldwide Auctioneers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Q1suhXyl70E&#038;feature=emb_logo\" target=_blank>said in a video announcing the vehicle\u2019s auction<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo own a piece of history from World War II such as this &#8230; is a spectacular opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vehicle was first acquired in approximately 1950 by Guy Franz Arend, a Belgian collector who \u201cwas a key person in the creation of the Bastogne Museum,\u201d according to the vehicle\u2019s \u201cKnown History\u201d document provided by Worldwide Auctioneers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2018, the Command Car was acquired by the J. Kruse Education Center, a \u201cnonprofit focused on career path exploration and connection for K-12 students and returning veterans,\u201d the company site states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patton\u2019s Command Car will be sold \u2014 at no reserve \u2014 to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to the education center, the auction site
