House Armed Services Committee officials have a full slate\u00a0of hearings later in the week looking at future threats and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">House defense lawmakers also will hear from former CIA Director John McLaughlin and former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker on Wednesday\u00a0as part of their ongoing review of U.S. strategy in the Middle East against the Islamic State group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the same day, the House Foreign Affairs Committee will hold a hearing to discuss current and future U.S.\u00a0strategy in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Senate Committee on Veterans&#8217; Affairs <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Committee <\/span>will review the nomination of Mike Missal to become the Department of Veterans Affairs&#8217;\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">VA\u2019s <\/span>new inspector general, a position\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\">post <\/span>that has been open for almost two years, despite repeated pleas from lawmakers and advocates to fill the oversight post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<u>Monday, Nov. 16<\/u>\n\n\n\n<p><a
