Esmail Ghaani, commander of Iran\u2019s expeditionary Quds Force, said at a ceremony Friday that Iran was not afraid of confronting \u201cpowers,\u201d without naming the U.S.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In recent months, Iran has increased its military drills as the country tries to pressure President Joe Biden over the nuclear accord, which he has said America could reenter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In January the Guard conducted a drill and launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/training-sim\/2021\/01\/13\/iran-holds-missile-drill-with-two-new-warships\/\" target=_blank>anti-warship ballistic missiles<\/a> at a simulated target in the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A week before that, Iran\u2019s navy fired cruise missiles as part of a naval drill in the Gulf of Oman, state media reported, under surveillance of what appeared to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2021\/01\/15\/iran-tests-missiles-under-apparent-watch-of-us-navy-nuclear-sub\/\" target=_blank>a U.S. nuclear submarine<\/a>.
