Four deaths were also reported this week, including two civilians, a New Jersey National Guardsman and a contractor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2020\/04\/01\/the-defense-departments-coronavirus-cases-are-rising-on-par-with-the-rest-of-the-us\/\" target=\"_blank\">bringing the toll to six<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall cases in the U.S. also spike this week, adding roughly 100,000 patients since Monday \u2015 nearly doubling the numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/militarytimes\/news\/your-military\/2020\/04\/02\/family-separations-training-for-nothing-and-rock-bottom-morale-how-the-travel-ban-is-affecting-troops\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"172\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4307217.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Family separations, training \u201cfor nothing\u201d and rock-bottom morale. How the travel ban is affecting troops.<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">As the COVID-19 pandemic throws the world into turmoil, a travel ban is throwing another wrench in the works for troops.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Service members\u2019 rate of infection has rise to 466-per-million, while the general U.S. populations rate has ballooned to 651-per-million. The DoD death rate has also risen, from 0.2 percent to 0.3 percent as of Friday, versus the overall 2.1 percent rate in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, there are 905 troops with COVID-19, as well as 73 more who have recovered. The number stands at 395 for civilians, with 11 recovered; 244 dependents, with 12 recovered; and 106 contractors, two of whom have recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of 978 total positives since late February, 353 are soldiers \u2015 76 of them Guardsmen \u2015 as well as 322 sailors, 73 Marines and 230 airmen \u2015 none of them
