NEW YORK \u2014 A book by Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster<\/a>, President Donald Trump\u2019s second national security adviser, will have a book out April 28. First announced in the summer of 2018, \u201cBattlegrounds\u201d will focus on national security and foreign policy, including his contentious time with Trump. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In announcing the release date Thursday, HarperCollins called \u201cBattlegrounds\u201d a \u201cgroundbreaking reassessment of America\u2019s place in the world, drawing from McMaster\u2019s long engagement with these issues, including 34 years of service in the U.S. Army with multiple tours of duty in battlegrounds overseas and his 13 months as national security adviser in the Trump White House.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McMaster clashed with Trump on policy toward Russia, Iran and elsewhere before being forced out in March 2018. He was replaced by John Bolton<\/a>, who also fought with Trump before departing<\/a> last September. Bolton\u2019s memoir, \u201cWhat Happened In the Room,\u201d is expected next month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

McMaster has written a previous book, the acclaimed \u201cDereliction of Duty,\u201d which sharply criticized the political leadership during the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
