UPDATE:<\/strong> We’ve heard from sources in the DoD that the IAR program award is not a conventional contract award. From what we understand, this is actually a downselect <\/em>to just one system as opposed to a contract win<\/em> that gives the Corps the ability to make changes to the program that could include significant changes to the weapon or choosing an entirely different weapon in some circumstances. Acquisitions is more art than science, it seems, so bear with us as we try to get more clarity on this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
