the Senate\u2019s return from the holiday recess and the resumption of their draft of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2020\/07\/01\/big-pay-raise-limits-on-troop-moves-highlight-defense-budget-measure\/\" target=_blank>annual defense authorization bill.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, appropriators held a closed hearing on the defense budget but will openly debate their funding plans on Tuesday as part of broader work on the annual federal budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers remain skeptical that any final bill can be passed before the November elections, but the work now could help speed those efforts at the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also on Tuesday, the House Foriegn Affairs Committee will discuss the importance of international cooperation in confronting the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 135,000 Americans in the last four months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<strong>Tuesday, July 14<\/strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Appropriations \u2014 10 a.m. \u2014 1100 Longworth<br>\r\n<i>Defense appropriations <\/i><br>\r\nCommittee members will mark up their drafts of appropriations bills covering the Departments of Defense, Commerce, Justice and related agencies. <br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Foreign Affairs \u2014 2 p.m. \u2014 online hearing<br>\r\n<i>Coronavirus and international cooperation<\/i><br>\r\nOutside experts will testify on the need for transatlantic cooperation in dealing with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. <br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Wednesday, July 15 <\/strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Oversight \u2014 noon \u2014 online hearing<br>\r\n<i>Cyber security <\/i><br>\r\nThe committee will discuss the National Cyber Director Act and related issues. <br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Thursday, July 16<\/strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Homeland Security \u2014 10 a.m. \u2014 online hearing<br>\r\n<i>Militia extremists<\/i><br>\r\nOutside experts will testify on the threat posed by military extremists and other radical groups. <br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Veterans&#8217; Affairs \u2014 noon \u2014 online hearing<br>\r\n<i>Pending legislation <\/i><br>\r\nThe subcommittee on disability assistance and memorial affairs will discuss pending bills. <br>\r\n<br>\r\n<strong>Friday, July 17 <\/strong><br>\r\n<br>\r\nHouse Homeland Security \u2014 12:30 p.m. \u2014 online hearing<br>\r\n<i>Cyber security<\/i><br>\r\nOfficials from the
