David Grusch told the House Oversight Committee Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grusch claimed that a highly secret program exists to retrieve and reverse-engineer extraterrestrial unidentified flying objects \u2014 and that Congress has never been briefed on its operations, or even knew of its existence. The former officer was working at the satellite-focused National Reconnaissance Office, or NRO, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2020\/08\/14\/pentagon-creates-ufo-task-force-to-see-if-unidentified-aerial-phenomena-pose-threat\/\" target=\"_blank\">a task force created in 2019 to study unmanned aerial phenomenon or UAPs.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019m speaking to the facts as I\u2019ve been told them,\u201d Grusch said. \u201cI was informed in the course of my officials duties of a multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse engineering program, to which I was denied access.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The retired airman\u2019s testimony in front of Congress will likely to inflame suspicion among the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/politics\/2022\/06\/06\/public-trust-in-government-2\/\" target=\"_blank\"> growing proportion of Americans who have little trust in government<\/a>, especially when fascination with extraterrestrial objects is on the rise.<b> <\/b>In a 2021 Gallup poll, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/350096\/americans-believe-ufos.aspx\">more than 40% of respondents blamed alien spacecraft<\/a> for<b> <\/b>at least some of the unidentified incidents in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pentagon\u2019s head of UFO research and analysis has previously denied the existence of an alien exploitation program. Sean Kirkpatrick, who leads the Pentagon All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office, told senators in April that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2023\/04\/21\/no-credible-evidence-of-alien-ufo-activity-pentagon-official-says\/\" target=\"_blank\">there was \u201cno credible evidence\u201d<\/a> that any objects being examined by his office were of extraterrestrial origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pentagon did not respond to request for comment about Grusch\u2019s alleged conversations with Kirkpatrick, but a Pentagon spokesperson denied claims about a retrieval and reverse engineering program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo date, [the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office] has not discovered any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently,\u201d spokesperson Sue Gough said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers, however, took his allegations about fears for his life seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s coming forward, in fear of his life,\u201d said<b> <\/b>Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/election-2022\/2022\/10\/17\/a-full-list-of-the-195-veterans-running-for-congress-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anna Paulina Luna<\/a>, R-Fla., said. \u201cIf they were really not scared about this information coming out, why would someone be intimidated like that?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere would be bipartisan rejection of any attempt to vilify, demonize or engage in other reprisals against our witnesses and people who were telling the truth from their perspective,\u201d added Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/coronavirus\/2020\/04\/22\/congressman-asks-commandant-to-relax-grooming-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jaime Raskin<\/a>, D-Md.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two other former Navy pilots also testified Wednesday about their own interactions with unidentified phenomena while operating U.S. military aircraft. Retired Cdr. David Fravor, formerly head of \u201cThe Black Aces\u201d squadron, and former Lt. Ryan Graves told lawmakers of their own experiences with unidentified objects on their routine flying missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fravor had experienced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/off-duty\/military-culture\/2020\/04\/27\/pentagon-releases-videos-of-encounters-between-ufos-and-navy-pilots\/\" target=\"_blank\">the famous incident in 2004 of a tic tac-shaped object<\/a> that moved at incredible speeds and directions. Graves, who now heads the Americans for Safe Aerospace, talked about how a \u201cblack cube in a clear sphere\u201d had flown between two F-18\u2032s on a routine mission off the coast of Virginia. He also described other spherical shapes that traveled at Mach 2, or twice the speed of sound, while on routine flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cParts of our government are
