Col. Calischaran G. James was relieved of his duties by Maj. Gen. Marcus B. Annibale, the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing commanding general, \u201cdue to a loss of trust and confidence in his ability to command,\u201d the Marine Corps announced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Military services often use \u201closs of trust and confidence\u201d as a blanket term when dismissing senior leadership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A request for additional information regarding the nature of the dismissal was not yet returned as of press time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCommanders are held to the highest standards of conduct and must consistently live above reproach,\u201d 1st Marine Aircraft Wing spokesman Maj. Joseph Butterfield said in the announcement. \u201cThis decision reflects the Marine Corps\u2019 dedication to upholding the trust and confidence that are essential for effective leadership.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Originally from the Caribbean island nation of Dominica, James enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1998, according to his <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250710171114\/https:\/www.1stmaw.marines.mil\/Leaders\/Biography\/Article\/3640021\/lieutenant-colonel-calischaran-james\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20250710171114\/https:\/www.1stmaw.marines.mil\/Leaders\/Biography\/Article\/3640021\/lieutenant-colonel-calischaran-james\/\">now-archived command bio<\/a>. He was commissioned in 2006 after completing the Enlisted Commissioning Program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2020, James was named the recipient of the Marine Corps Aviation Association\u2019s Earle Hattaway Ground Officer of the Year Award. He assumed command of MALS-36 in May 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.1stmaw.marines.mil\/Leaders\/Biography\/Article\/3640021\/lieutenant-colonel-ryan-t-iden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.1stmaw.marines.mil\/Leaders\/Biography\/Article\/3640021\/lieutenant-colonel-ryan-t-iden\/\">Lt. Col. Ryan T. Iden<\/a> has been appointed as interim commanding officer until a selected replacement arrives, the release stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iden enlisted in the Marine Corps 1997 as an infantryman, rising to the rank of gunnery sergeant before earning his commission in 2008. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James\u2019 dismissal, meanwhile, comes on the heels of recent firings that overhauled the entire leadership structure of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/newsletters\/daily-news-roundup\/2025\/11\/04\/marines-fire-entire-command-for-osprey-squadron-in-hawaii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/newsletters\/daily-news-roundup\/2025\/11\/04\/marines-fire-entire-command-for-osprey-squadron-in-hawaii\/\">Marine Osprey squadron<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Oct. 28, the commanding officer, executive officer and senior enlisted leader of the Hawaii-based Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 268 were fired \u201cdue to a loss of trust\u201d in their ability to enforce safety and readiness standards, according to a statement announcing the trio\u2019s dismissal. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lt.
