He joins the former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retired Air Force Gen.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/it-networks\/2018\/06\/21\/the-us-made-the-wrong-bet-on-radiofrequency-and-now-it-could-pay-the-price\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Paul Selva<\/a>, who serves as an operating partner in the national security practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esper is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=site%3Adefensenews.com+esper+epirus&#038;oq=site%3Adefensenews.com+esper+epirus+&#038;aqs=chrome..69i57j69i58.8088j0j1&#038;sourceid=chrome&#038;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\">on the board of directors<\/a> at Los Angeles-based startup<a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/land\/2022\/02\/14\/epirus-debuts-high-power-microwave-pod-for-drones\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Epirus<\/a>, which was co-founded by Red Cell founding partner and CEO Grant Verstandig. Esper was then the third man to exit the top job at the Pentagon during the administration, following Jim Mattis and, in an acting capacity, Patrick
