BUFFALO, N.Y. — A former bar manager will soon stand trial for the death of a 28-year-old New York Air National Guard member he’s accused of shoving down a flight of stairs.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin in Buffalo Monday for the second-degree murder trial of Jeffrey Basil.
Basil is charged in the death of William Sager Jr., who died in July, more than two months after suffering brain trauma in the fall inside Molly’s Pub in Buffalo.
Authorities say Basil pushed Sager down a flight of stairs and then tampered with a video surveillance system so it couldn’t be used as evidence.
In addition to murder, he’s charged with manslaughter and evidence tampering.
Sager was engaged to be married.
