DAYTON, Ohio — Officials with the Air Force Materiel Command in southwest Ohio says the command will roll out a new strategy for increasing its agility in developing war-winning capabilities.
The Dayton Daily News reports that the strategy is slated to be detailed next January.
“In the current world environment, the Air Force and the other services are being forced to react more quickly and put greater emphasis on agility,” commander Gen. Ellen Pawlikowski said in a recent statement.
AFMC, which is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, is responsible for research and development, test and evaluation, acquisition, and sustaining weapon systems. It manages about 80,000 personnel around the globe and has a $60 billion budget.
AFMC spokesman Ron Fry said the command “has fewer people than we did a few years ago, resources are tight, and you have to make up for that in part by being better at what we do.”
Pawlikowski met earlier this month with AFMC leaders to draft mission and vision statements. The statements are the first step in creating a revised strategic plan. She said in an online video message to airmen that the statements hone their focus on warfighter support.
