An airman assigned to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, was found dead Saturday.
Maj. John D. Gerrie, 42, died from a non-combat related incident, the Defense Department said in a release.
Gerrie was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, the Pentagon’s latest name for operations in Afghanistan.
Gerrie, of Nickerson, Kansas, was assigned to 453rd Electronic Warfare Squadron, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
The incident is under investigation.
