Ft. Eustis, Va., was briefly put on lockdown Friday morning after shots were reported fired on base. However there were no causalities reported and the incident is currently under investigation, a spokeswoman said.
Shots were reported fired at about 11:30 am and the base was put on lockdown, the spokeswoman told Air Force Times. The lockdown was lifted about an hour later after security forces determined there was not an active shooter, and operations returned to normal in the afternoon.
The incident took place outside Building 650, the Ft. Eustis In-Processing Center, the spokeswoman said. No casualties were reported, and the incident is being investigated. The spokeswoman declined to say whether anyone was being questioned in connection with the event.
Ft. Eustis is part of Joint Base Langley-Eustis near Newport News in southern Virginia.
