AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — The Air Force Academy says superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson will stay on for another year beyond the normal three-year assignment.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Wednesday Johnson will be in the job until the summer of 2017.
Although most superintendents stay for three years, some are granted extra time.
Johnson is the first woman to lead any of the three major service academies.
She is a 1981 graduate of the academy and went on to command transport and refueling planes.
