JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Senate has hired a retired military officer to serve as a security specialist for the chamber.
Former Army National Guard Col. Greg Allison began work this week in the newly created Senate position. He said Tuesday that his job is to bolster the Senate’s security measures.
Senate Administrator Marga Hoelscher said Allison will help provide security when the Senate is in session. He also will help develop security plans and emergency response procedures for the space that the Senate controls in the Capitol.
She said his work is intended to supplement that of the Capitol Police and Senate sergeant at arms.
Allison said he retired last summer after a 33-year career in the Army and Missouri Army National Guard.
