The Army plans 429 Regular Army promotions to the ranks of chief warrant officer three through colonel in August, including 41 basic-branch advancements to colonel, 109 to major, 75 to captain and 98 to the senior chief warrant officer grades.
Army Competitive Category promotions to lieutenant colonel are on hold until results of the ACC board that met in January and February are released. When released, the list must be confirmed by the Senate before the Army can schedule promotions.
Warrant officer promotions will be made from the 2014 list, and will total of five to CW5, 29 to CW4 and 64 to CW3.
The ACC captain authorization will reduce the 2014 list to 91 names, while the 109 promotions to major will total 51 for members of the Operations functional category, 28 for Operations Support officers and 30 for Force Sustainment.
Most promotions for the special branches will reduce the 2014 lists to a few names, which means the 2015 lists can be used for the fiscal 2016 authorizations that will begin in October.
