Fort Stewart soldier injured during live-fire exercise

A soldier is in critical condition after an accident during a live-fire training exercise on Wednesday night at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

The soldier is hospitalized and family has been notified, according to a Thursday release.

“Fort Stewart officials have initiated an investigation which will be conducted in accordance with Army regulations and policies,” spokesman Kevin Larson said in a statement. “We will not comment on the ongoing investigation.

Officials would not release any additional information about the soldier or what happened.

The soldier is at least the second Army live-fire casualty this year.

A Fort Carson, Colorado, soldier died after he was shot during a combined arms live-fire exercise.
