The global unmanned maritime vehicle underwater vehicle market will reach $810 million by 2016, according to a forecast by market research firm Visiongain.
The report examined the unmanned maritime vehicle (UMV) market, which includes autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), unmanned surface vehicles (USV) and remotely operated vehicles (ROV).
“The global military unmanned maritime vehicle market is a dynamic one at present with new government research, development and procurement programs appearing around the world,” said Visiongain analyst Sophie Hammond. “Globally, militaries are turning to UMVs to augment their manned capabilities. Factors such as rapid technological development and a high crossover between commercial and military requirements have made the market more open and there are currently a number of opportunities for both existing manufacturers and new companies trying to enter the market.”
