Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $267 million Navy contract to develop a next-generation electronic warfare system for surface ships.
The contract, for the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 3, will upgrade the AN/SLQ-32 electronic warfare attack system for earlier threat detection, signal analysis, threat warning and protection from anti-ship missiles, according to a Northrop Grumman news release.
“This is the first simultaneous multimission enabler to be developed and deployed on Navy surface ships,” said Teri Marconi, vice president of Northrop Grumman’s, navigation and maritime systems division.”
