The Marine Corps and Air Force have flown a mini-jammer equipped with a data link.
The Miniature Air Launched Decoy Jammer (MALD-J), with an incorporated data link, flew from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma. “Adding the data link expands the weapon’s situational awareness and allows for in-flight targeting adjustments,” said an announcement by MALD-J manufacturer Raytheon. The exercise used the Marine Corps’ new Electronic Warfare Services Architecture protocol as well as a Tactical Targeting Network Technology radio.
The air-launched MALD has a 500-mile range and weighs less than 300 pounds. The J-version adds a radar jamming capability.
