U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is preparing to release a large $750 million contract this month. The five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract will replace several sole-source contracts and thus increase competition.
The contract will focus on “Hardware Procurement & Modifications; Specialized Communication and Over the Horizon Networks, Signals Processing and Multimedia Product Support, and Systems Integration Support,” said the announcement posted on FedBizOpps. SOCOM also cites “a need for continuous increased capability and new technology insertion.”

The announcement has been removed, but a SOCOM spokesman said the draft request for proposals is coming in late December.
SOCOM intends for the contract to put an end to existing exclusivity agreements and reduce or eliminate potential or real organizational conflicts of interest.”
SOCOM estimates a minimum of three and a maximum of six prime awards.
