Data Link Solutions, a joint venture between Rockwell Collins and BAE, has been awarded an $11.7 million contract to improve Link 16 data communications for foreign F-16 users.
Under the Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) contract, DLS will produce Multifunctional Information Distribution System – Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs) for Foreign Military Sales F-16 customers, according to a DLS news release. The contract also includes a $7.7 million option for additional MIDS-LVT terminals.
MIDS-LVT is designed to provide Link 16 capability at a lower weight, volume and cost. MIDS-LVT features real-time data communications, situational awareness and navigation, digital voice and TACAN in a jam-resistant, crypto-secured package.
