Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) wants a radio that can integrate voice, video and data and thus save weight for special operators burdened by too many separate devices.
The goals, specified in an Air Force research proposal, call for a multi-channel radio. It should be able to form a self-healing mesh network of up to 100 nodes, with connect and disconnect times of under five seconds.

It should also support a minimum of 5 Mbps data links per channel, and be configurable by users with minimal training.
