It’s no secret that the Defense Department is grappling with some difficult issues in expanding the use of mobile devices on its networks, especially those that carry sensitive or secret information. The utility of smart phones and tablets is obvious, but the risks of opening DoD networks to them prevents personnel from making the most of their potential.
In a recent survey,35 percent of Defense Department respondents said their organizations allow no mobile access at all. (See related story.)
