Raytheon has been awarded a Missile Defense Agency contract to develop a war-gaming tool to assess the effectiveness of cyberwarfare and other weapons.
Under the contract, Raytheon will provide “an automated tool that assesses the effectiveness of using missiles and interceptors (kinetic) and cyber and electronic warfare (non-kinetic) weapons in wargames,” according to a company news release. “The system automatically teaches participants which weapons to use in every possible scenario, ultimately better preparing warfighters to succeed.”
The tool, scheduled for delivery in early 2018, is part of Raytheon’s Coordinated Cyber/Electronic Warfare Integrated Fires program. “This really is a first of its kind tool that brings together automation, analytics and cyber capabilities,” said Todd Probert, vice president of mission support and modernization at Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information and Services division.
