Sensor technology is evolving, and with it the data returned is accumulating substantially. Nimble storage and agile management are necessary to reduce time spent looking for the right data and increase time looking at the right data.
The ability to implement metadata sits at the core of an effective intelligence data management scheme, but several components contribute to success.
Provisioning virtualized storage, for example, can decrease physical infrastructure while increasing the logical presentation of data. “Now you don’t have to buy multiple storage array components, you can just buy one,” Thomas Rivera, co-chair of the Data Protection & Capacity Optimization Committee of the Storage Networking Industry Association, said. “The other advantage is management: IT does not have to deploy man-hours to manage multiple arrays. You can have your staff manage a single array and virtualize your storage on top of that.”
