Leidos has been awarded a $38 million Air Force contract to work on electromagnetic weapons.
Under the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity Air Force Research Laboratory contract, Leidos will work on Next Generation High Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) sources and components, according to the Department of Defense contract announcement.
HPEM technology can be used for a variety of purposes, including directed-energy weapons, counter-IED jammers and electronic warfare.
The contract is scheduled to be completed by January 2022.
