The General Services Administration is looking for a new chief of staff to manage its Office of Citizen Services, Innovative Technologies and 18F (OCSIT/18F).
The chief of staff position is part of the senior management team for the “digital front door” of the federal government, according to the posting on USAjobs.com.

Qualified applicants should have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level advising a top official on significant management issues, including confidential matters. Along with specific experience, applicants should include exact dates and average hours worked per week in previous positions.
The posting lists five major duties for the chief of staff:
- Participate in high level policy making sessions/conferences with the associate administrator (AA) and deputy associate administrators and other top officials to provide expert and innovative technical advice, recommendations and comments for the development of critical policies;
- Collaborate with top officials to obtain agreement with proposed initiatives, policy changes and activities designed to improve the quality of OCSIT/18F programs and business portfolios and ensure the efficient, economical operations of program functions;
- Brief the AA on status of programs requiring significant modifications, particularly unresolved conflicts which may necessitate personal involvement of the AA;
- Track strategic initiatives by monitoring progress toward meeting goals and achieving benchmarks, analyzing data, ensuring follow-through on the part of key players and sustaining momentum needed to drive these initiatives; and
- Expedite major program activities for the AA and pursue activities involving critical projects and long-range programs to improve the quality of OCSIT/18F programs.
