Seven health information transfer projects will split $1.5 million in funding under a pair of Department of Health and Human Services programs.
After considering 35 applicants, the HHS Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology announced recipients of the High Impact Pilot and Standards Exploration Award funding opportunities, introduced at the Health Datapalooza Conference in May 2016. The cooperative agreement initiatives were created to improve the use and interoperability of electronic health records.
The groups selected for their potential positive impact on scalable health data solutions include: A partnership between the Health Collaborative and the Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative; Lantana Consulting Group; a collaborative project between RxREVU, a Denver-based prescription intelligence company, and the Banner Health System; the University of Utah; Arkansas Office of Health Information Technology; Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center; and a joint effort of Boston Children’s Hospital, Intermountain Healthcare, Massachusetts General Hospital and Sysbiochem.
“We are excited to support these innovative projects that advance the use of common standards to improve care, particularly in the categories of comprehensive medication management, laboratory data exchange and care coordination,” said Vindell Washington, national coordinator for health IT. “These programs will serve as key building blocks for improving the patient and provider experience with the flow of health information.”
Results are expected to be reported by Sept. 15, 2017.
Summaries of the projects can be viewed on HHS’s website.
