Bill Valdez has been named president of the Senior Executives Association. He takes over from Jason Briefel, who has served as interim president since February 2016 and will continue in his role as legislative director.
Valdez originally joined SEA, a professional association representing Senior Executive Service members and other federal professionals, in 2000 while at the Department of Energy, where he served for over 20 years.
Following several leadership positions at Energy, Valdez retired from the federal government in 2014 and took on senior advising roles with various business consultation groups and educational institutions. He brings experience in federal productivity evaluation and strategic planning for the effective, efficient delivery of essential government practices.
“Bill is an exemplary example of what SEA and the Senior Executive Service stand for,” said Barbara Pabotoy, chair of the SEA board of directors. “His work at the Department of Energy led to his receipt of the Secretary’s Gold Medal as well as the prestigious honor of the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award. He upholds our core values of professional integrity and a strong commitment to public service, and we are thrilled to have him once again in a leadership role within the organization.”
Valdez assumes his new role after a decade on the board of directors, including several years where he served as chair.
