Fastball, curveball or slider? Katherine Archuleta, the director of the Office of Personnel Management, is still deciding whether to bring the heat when she throws out the first pitch at the Washington, D.C. Nationals game May 4.
Her pitch will be part of a series of pregame events honoring government employees during Public Service Recognition Week, which begins on May 3 and lasts through May 9. The game will begin with a special tribute to federal employees, with some of the Service to America Finalists recognized before the game for their work.
Federal employees will also have the chance to purchase discounted tickets.
“I am very excited and honored to throw out the opening pitch for the Washington Nationals at Monday’s ‘Salute to Public Service’ game. What will make it extra special is that five Federal employees will be joining me on the field,” Archuleta said in a statement to Federal Times.
She said the federal employees joining her on the field represent the spirit of Public Service Recognition week and all the work federal employees do on behalf of the American people every day.
“As for me, I hope I do a good job with my pitch. I haven’t decided yet whether it will be a fastball, a slider, or a curveball,” Archuleta said.
