The General Services Administration is opening four cybersecurity special item numbers (SINs) for IT Schedule 70, projected to be available Oct. 1 for agencies in need of advanced cybersecurity tools.
IT Schedule 70, the federal government’s largest acquisition vehicle, will use these Highly Adaptive Cybersecurity Services SINs to further centralize and simplify purchasing cyber products, services and solutions for the government.
“In support of the administration’s [Cybersecurity National Action Plan] activities, these new SINs will provide government agencies with quicker and more reliable access to key, pre-vetted support services that will expand agencies’ capacity to test their high-priority IT systems, rapidly address potential vulnerabilities, and stop adversaries before they impact our networks,” GSA Administrator Denise Turner Roth said. “The SINs will feature high-quality cybersecurity vendors offering federal agencies the following services: Penetration Testing, Incident Response, Cyber Hunt, and Risk and Vulnerability Assessment.”
GSA has worked with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure the quality of vendors and capabilities. Federal Chief Information Officer Tony Scott has pledged to have the Office of Management and Budget work closely with agencies to help the SINs “grow more robust in their offerings,” he said.
Supplier evaluations are projected to begin immediately, and current IT Schedule 70 suppliers providing services in the four SINs will be required to migrate to the appropriate item number.
