Military shoppers who made purchases or shipped packages through The UPS Store locations operated through the Army and Air Force Exchange Service were not affected by the data breach involving about 1 percent of The UPS Store locations nationwide, AAFES officials said.
The UPS Store officials discovered malware on systems at 51 locations in 24 states — about 1 percent of the 4,470 locations in the U.S.
Certain customer information may have been exposed if they used a credit card or debit card at the 51 affected stores between Jan. 20 and Aug. 11.
The UPS Store is offering identity protection and credit monitoring services to customers affected by the data breach.
AAFES offers The UPS Store at 33 locations, but again, customer information was not exposed at those stores.
