Wilson Combat is continuing its push into the AR15 marketplace with the release of its new “Tactical Rail Interface, Modular,” or the more easily remembered “TRIM Rail.”
This new rail from Wilson Combat takes a hybrid approach to the rail market. Bridging the gap between a full four sides 1913 rail, and the increasingly popular tube rails. The TRIM rail allows for mounting of 1913 section rails wherever the end user feels a need. This gives a nice smooth, snag-free rail without the unneeded weight of extra rails.
Installation is very simple and while Wilson Combat (WC) has its own full installation guide, I’ll hit the highlights as well. With all of your components ready to go, push your barrel into your upper receiver. Lock the receiver into a vice, then take the supplied WC barrel nut and torque it between 30-50 ft-lbs. Check your alignment by verifying the screw holes are exactly at the 12 o’clock position. If it doesn’t line up, remove and re-install the barrel nut from the other side. If it’s still not exact, use the supplied shim. Our sample lined up on the first shot without any trouble.
Now you can install your gas block and gas tube. Next, slide the rail over the barrel nut and install the screws using a thread locker and you are done. Drop on any railed sections as needed. Our extended rifle length TRIM weighs in at 13.9 ounces with its steel barrel nut.
