Four out of five people don’t execute an upright row correctly, The New York Times reports. The exercise calls for gripping a barbell overhand, then lifting it straight up from your waist toward your chin. The problem, experts say, is that most people lift the weight too high, making shoulder injuries among the most common in the weight room. The Times reports three simple tips to get it right:
• Keep the weight close to your body
• Don’t pull the weight up to your nose.
• Don’t let your elbows or the weight climb higher than your shoulders.
