Living in D.C. this summer has felt like living in a giant sponge, making it miserable to do any sort of PT outside. But be warned Marines, staff writer Gina Harkins reports that officials want you to keep it classy even when it’s a zillion degrees out. Gina writes:
Virginia can be brutally humid in the summer, but a base sergeant major has a message for Marines doing individual physical training: Put your shirts on — you set examples all day, every day.
Sgt. Maj. Laura Brown at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., took the opportunity in August, when welcoming new joins, to remind those on the installation that there is protocol when it comes to PT gear, even in 100-degree weather.

Brown said Marines there need to remember they’re at the “Crossroads of the Corps,” where they host guests regularly, so no one should be running around looking inappropriate.
So what is the No. 1 offense that got the sergeant major’s attention?
“Male Marines running without shirts on the main roads is a big one,” she said.
