In the past, despite receiving flak, Donald Trump’s national security adviser, retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, has used social media to promote a series of outrageous conspiracy theories. Now some say Flynn’s fondness for spreading fake news casts doubt on his fit to serve in the White House. The criticism began again after Sunday’s non-fatal shooting at a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant that has been targeted by false, internet rumors accusing it of being the epicenter of a child-trafficking conspiracy involving former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Flynn had twice used Twitter to promote similar hoaxes in the past month, including a claim that Clinton’s campaign manager takes part in occult rituals.
