The Senate’s top Republican, Mitch McConnell, has endorsed a bipartisan effort to investigate whether the Russian government intervened in the U.S. election. This despite the fact his party’s own nominee is the current president-elect. The Central Intelligence Agency reportedly told lawmakers that the Kremlin hacked the Democratic and Republican national committees. The Agency stressed that only embarrassing information about Hillary Clinton’s campaign was released in order to help Donald Trump become president. The former acting director of the CIA, Mike Morrell called the Russian effort "the political equivalent of 9/11."
