In a new TV advertisement for the Marines, a fighter in full combat gear is seen moving through dark water carrying a rifle. It’s not until the Marine shouts out an order that it becomes clear the Marine is a woman. The Marine Corps has struggled with the reputation of being the most unwelcoming to women of any military service, but they’re working to change that image. By 2019, the Marine Corp wants at least 10 percent of its Marines to be women. Currently, it has the lowest percentage of women.
