CORONADO, Calif — Navy officials say a service member found dead this week at a California base was a Virginia man who first enlisted in 1995.
The Navy said in a statement Friday that Chief Personnel Specialist Demond Walker, who had served several tours in Japan, was found Thursday morninginside a building complex on Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado.
Base security officers and the Navy Criminal Investigative Service are investigating the death, but there are no indications of foul play.
