The Defense Department identified the sailor who died Saturday from a fall while on liberty in Bahrain as Petty Officer 3rd Class Devon Doyle.
The 21-year-old sailor from Alamosa, Colorado, tragically fell from a balcony while on liberty, DoD said Monday. Doyle had been assigned to the Mayport, Florida-based destroyer Farragut, DoD said.
Early reports indicated Doyle died of head trauma. An investigation into the death continues.
The Farragut is part of the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, which arrived in 5th Fleet April 6. The strike group, which also includes the cruiser Normandy and destroyers Winston S. Churchill and Forrest Sherman, relieved the Carl Vinson CSG, which deployed from the West Coast in August.
