The Army just signed a deal for 55,890 Sig Sauer 9mm pistols, but soldiers shouldn’t plan on turning in their old M9 anytime soon. Nope; the $26 million contract awarded April 23 will outfit the Colombian National Police with the Sig SP2022, a lightweight polymer framed pistol that features both double and single action operation.
Army Material Command secured the multi-year contract with Sig Sauer Inc., for the Colombian government after it was approved by the U.S. State Department. The deal has a potential value of $306 million.
