If the Network Integration Evaluation 15.1, held in October and November at Fort Bliss, Texas, showed anything, it is that Warfighter Information Network – Tactical Increment 2 will greatly expand the reach of information in harsh conditions.
WIN-T synchronizes all of the equipment in the tactical operations center (TOC), which is located away from the combat, said LTC Ryan Worthan, Battalion Commander, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division. That protects the TOC and its data from damage, but it also has historically limited the ability of front-line troops to get access to the latest intelligence.

“The WIN-T system pulls everything together in one system and then it gives us the ability to push it over one network or one backbone,” Worthan said. “More important, it gives me the abilty to do it all on the move.”
Another boost for information availability is a new point-of-presence vehicle, also tested at NIE. The battle-hardened trucks, based on more advanced vehicles than some in the past have been, are a “TOC on wheels,” said SPC Gerardo Cabrera.
