The Pentagon has approved new security credentials for mobile devices.
Operational Research Consultants Inc., a subsidiary of WidePoint Corp., has been approved to issue External Certificate Authority (ECA) Personal Identity Verification Interoperable (PIV-I) credentials. This is the first time that a vendor has been approved issue these enhanced credentials, according to a WidePoint news release. PIV-I credentials can authenticate more than 40 million Department of Defense contractors and others so they can communicate with government information systems.

“The ability to use PIV-I credentials with Android, Apple, and Microsoft mobile devices for access into approved DoD networks and software applications is a tremendous step forward in mitigating cybersecurity risk and attacks,” said WidePoint CEO Steve Komar.
