In the wake of the deadly attack at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, France has seen a surge of cyber attacks, targeting about 19,000 websites, the Associated Press is reporting. Citing Adm. Arnaud Coustilliere, head of cyberdefense for the French military, AP reported that some of the cyber attacks have been carried out by known Islamic hacker groups.
Most of the attacks have been minor denial-of-service attempts, according to the report. The military has begun continual surveillance to protect government sites.
