The 2015 AFCEA Defensive Cyber Operations Conference, scheduled to be held May 5 through May 7 in Baltimore, has been postponed in the wake of riots and demonstrations in the city.
“The safety of symposium participants has been our highest priority as we’ve examined all options for this event,” a notice posted on the event’s website and emailed to registered attendees stated. “After conferring with the Baltimore Convention Center, city officials and mission partners, AFCEA has decided to reschedule the Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium.”
The notice said that officials are working to nail down a new date for the conference in mid-June to mid-July.
The conference originally included as keynote speakers Defense Department CIO Terry Halvorsen, as well as Lt. Gen. Ronnie Hawkins, director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, and Meg Whitman, president and CEO of Hewlett-Packard.
