A new poll has found that nearly 90 percent of security executives report data breaches in their organizations in the last year.
The Raytheon survey of 100 security executives found that 63 percent suffered one or two data breaches, 6 percent experienced 10 or more, while 13 percent didn’t even know how many breaches occurred in their organizations.
When asked how confident they were in their organization’s security posture, only 31 percent felt secure. Another 65 percent felt only somewhat confident.
The survey concluded that merely counting the number of breaches “is like counting mosquitoes on a warm summer night.” It is better to measure security by how much time an intruder actually spends inside a network.
