Defense Information Systems Agency’s annual industry event will likely dive into securing the Defense Department’s global networks.
Douglas Packard, director of DISA’s Procurement Directorate and chief of the Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization, will host this year’s Forecast to Industry Nov. 2. The event is set to be held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C., though it will also be live-streamed.
DISA outlined its priorities in a five-year strategy released in June, reiterating that the Joint Information Environment is the “cornerstone to the Department’s future,” critical to command and control operations up and down the chain of command, regardless of location or device. The agency’s major initiatives include:
- Providing global infrastructure for the delivery of IT services and communications;
- Streamlining command-and-control decision-making;
- Enabling cyber operations and sovereignty with a focus on speed, agility and access;
- Reducing costs by cutting redundant capabilities and production.
The strategy also calls out efforts to continue to develop a cyber workforce, including by coordinating with intelligence community agencies.
