The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is increasingly using social media and other virtual technologies to recruit new employees.
According to a report in NextGov, NGA took part in February in a virtual career fair, finding credible candidates for openings from around the country. In late 2014 NGA hosted a Twitter town hall to seek applicants for a student intern program. Soon it will use videoconferencing technology to talk to students at California State University, San Bernardino.
After the town hall, which drew only about 20 participants, NGA paid new attention to Facebook and Twitter and saw its followers and fans increase in numbers significantly.
Today, the agency posts some of its openings on Twitter and Facebook, and uses the social media platforms to announce upcoming recruiting events, said Sue Shumate, who leads NGA’s recruiting efforts, according to the article.
